Bote Proa de Risco can be found along the coast of Maranhão state in North Brazil. The name “Proa de Risco” translates to “bow at risk”, as the sides form a sudden ‘V’ shape for the bow. The stern is rounded and called “rabo de pato” which means ‘duck-tail’. This boat features a rig with two sails, a main with high boom latin sail and a small jib sometimes. It has a high or low cabin depending on its use. The painting is colorful with bright and contrasting colors. See the site Artimanha for more detailed info.
