Vitória-Régia (Victoria amazonica) is a genus of water lilies, with other local names: Irupé (in Guarani language), Uapé, Aguapé (in Tupi language), Aguapé-assú, Jaçanã, Nampé, Forno-de-jaçanã, Rainha-dos-lagos, Milho-d’água or Cará-d’água. It is native to the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin and has leaves up to 3 m in diameter, that float on the water’s surface. The flowers are white the first night they open and become pink the second night.
