Farofa is a sidedish for bean dishes as Feijoada, actually it is toasted Farinha de Mandioca . Most recipes will contain salt, smoked meat and spices. Farofa usually have a very smoky and slightly salty taste, toasted with butter and bacon until golden brown. It is also used as stuffing for poultry and other dishes, usually containing raisins, nuts and chopped bananas.
