Palmito Juçara

Palmito (Juçara) is the heart of the palm of excellent quality, widely consumed as food, from the Juçara palm tree (Euterpe edulis Martius). It is know with other common names: Içara, Açaí-do-sul, Linçara, Ensarova, Ençarova, Juçara, Palmito-juçara, Palmito-doce, Palmiteiro among others.

The palm tree is up to 20 meters tall, found in the Atlantic Forest along the Brazilian coast, It is endangered by overexploitation. The dispersal of seeds and fruits is made at short distances, carried by many mammals, including, bats, wild pigs and birds: Sabiás, Tucanos, etc.
