Quero-quero (Vanellus chilensis), also known as Tetéu, Téu-téu, Terém-terém or Espanta-boiada, is a bird of the order Ciconiiformes (formerly Charadriiformes) belonging to the family Charadriidae. This is a bird the size of a partridge and is characterized by overall color light gray, with black ornaments on the head, chest and tail. It measures around 37 cm tall and weighs less than 300 g. The Quero-quero inhabits large wet meadows and sprawling rivers and ponds and feeds on aquatic invertebrates and fish lying in the mud.
