Jacaré-do-pantanal

The Jacaré-do-pantanal (Yacare Caiman) is a species of caiman found in Brazil in the Pantanal. Approximately 10 million of Jacaré-do-pantanal exist within the Pantanal region representing the largest single crocodilian population on Earth. As a medium-small sized crocodilian, most adult individuals grow to roughly 2 or 2.5 meters in length, with the occasional 3 meter individual. Their smaller size makes them a favorite prey of the Onça and Sucuri. This species diet consists primarily of fish (specially the Piranha) and birds, with the occasional Capivara being taken by larger adults.
