Dendê is the fruit to produce the extract oil called Azeite-de-dendê. It can also be used in cosmetics and the manufacture of chocolate. The Dendezeiro (Elaeis guineensis), also known as Palmeira-de-óleo-africana, Palma-de-guiné, Palma, Dendém (in Angola), Palmeira-dendém or Coqueiro-de-dendê, is a palm tree originally from West Coast of Africa (Gulf of Guinea).The Dendezeiro reaches height of 15m. The Dendezeiro was brought to Brazil in the seventeenth century and has adapted well to the humid tropical climate of the Atlantic Forest in Southeast coast of Bahia.
