Mandioca

Mandioca (Manihot esculenta) is the Cassava, a woody shrub found in all Brazil. Extensively used by indians, it it is found in any place in Brazil for its edible starchy tuberous root, a major source of carbohydrates. Can be used for food, as well as fried and baked without the necessary preparation for the removal of hydrocyanic acid, which exists in large quantities in Mandioca species.The flour made of the roots is called Farinha de Mandioca and Tapioca. There are plant varieties as Aipim or Macaxeira and Mandioca Doce (Manihot utilissima).a species distinguished by skin color, the texture of the root, etc.
